Eco Madademia Shell w/Gold Twisted Bugle Beads and Gold Seed Bead Dangle Earrings
These Eco-Friendly earrings are a real conversation piece, made from the shell of a macadamia nut. The shell is extremely hard so has to be drilled to make our jewelry and keeps them from the trash bin. Our dad planted the tree in the late 50s and it has grown to dwarf the house by several feet. If you are at all familiar with macadamia nuts, you know how labor intensive they are to crack (you need a vice) and why they are so expensive. The squirrels love them too and have no problem getting the nut out, leaving no trace it was ever there. So, whoever gets there first, us or the squirrels, gets the nuts but they do leave the shells for us to gather for our unique jewelry.
These macadamia shells are smaller as the squirrels evidently shared this nut. The bugle beads are gold twisted glass separated by small gold beads with a gold dangle bead at the bottom. The shell was sprayed with a cherry wood tone stain and the gold wire was brought up into a spiral at the top of the shell and a gold ear wire finishes these unique earrings...they are just SO SASSY!
